Superworms (Zophobas morio) are the larva of Darkling Beetles. They are used as a food source for animals like fish, reptiles, and birds. Superworms are similar in appearance to mealworms; however, Superworms are larger (2.5-5 cm; 1-2 in) and require different care.

Small Superworms

Small Superworms are1/2--7/8 INCHES

Reptiles, birds, fish, and even chickens eat Superworms.

They are very lively and fast moving.  They have a long shelf life and are easily digestible. 

They don't need refrigeration - it will actually harm them.  Keep them at warm room temperatures (75° to 85°).  

For storing larger numbers add a few chunks of carrot or potatoes for their water source to keep them alive.  They will also need a grain such as wheat bran as their food.
